With a military ceremony held at barracks ‘Boro Menkov’ in Kumanovo, members of the Combat Service Support Battalion (CSSBn) of the 1st Infantry Brigade (1st InfBde) marked the Day of the Unit. On this day, 26, February in 1944 at the village of Zhegljane, near Kumanovo the Third Macedonian National Liberation Brigade was founded.
The Commander of the 1st InfBde, Brigadier General Sashko Lafchiski addressed the Brigade’s formation and present guests. Among other things, he stressed the importance of the CSSBn, as a newly-established unit, which introduced and established the new concept of logistics support.
The Battalion holds one of the most important roles having in mind fulfilling our NATO commitments, which are part of the plan for developing the Light Infantry Combat Group. Тhe forthcoming challenges of the unit is to provide appropriate logistics support to all operational Army units, including the largest number of garrisons in the country.
The Commander of the CSSBn, Lieutenant Colonel Shpejtim Cherimi looked back on the historical significance of today’s date and future obligations and tasks of the unit, as a bearer of traditions and inherited values of the 1st Infantry Battalion and Logistic Battalions.
The ceremony was attended by a delegation of the Operations Command (OC), led by Brigadier General Besnik Emini; a delegation of the 1st InfBde Command, led by Brigadier General Sashko Lafchiski; SEEBRIG Commander, Brigadier General Bilbil Bitri; Battalion Commands part of the 1st InfBde and other guests.
Certain officers, NCOs and enlisted personnel received awards and commendations at the ceremony. A blood-donation action was also organized as part of the celebration, and the 5th Platoon of the Combat Service Support Company was proclaimed the best Platoon.
