A team of the United Kingdom Army, led by Lieutenant Colonel Douglas Reed, visited the 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade (1st MIBde) from 15 to 17.10.2019. The team was first received by the Brigade commander, Colonel Besnik Emini.
At the 1st MIBde command, the team was briefed on the history of the brigade, its current formation, the location of its subordinate units, the training grounds as well as the brigade’s future plans. After the visit of the brigade’s Command, the United Kingdom team, accompanied by the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Battalion (2.MIBn), Lieutenant Colonel Goran Petrushevski left for a two-day visit to the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Battalion.
The visit to the 2nd MIBn began with a briefing on its formation, the means available and the battalion’s readiness. During the visit to the 2nd MIBn, the United Kingdom Army team was interested in the accommodation facilities of Jane Sandanski Barracks in Stip, the living and working conditions of the battalion servicemen, the training grounds used by the battalion servicemen as well as for the training needs of the Light Infantry Group, which is the largest declared unit of our Army.
As part of the tour of the training grounds of 2nd MIBn the team also attended the shooting of a long-range sniper rifle at the Penus Shooting Range.
The visit by the team of the United Kingdom Army to the 2/1.MIBde ended with a visit to the TA Krivolak which the members of the 2nd MIBn use for training.
