From 5 to 15 October, members of the Reconnaissance and Intelligence (RECONIBn) within the Operations Command participated in the military exercise “Cambrian Patrol 23” in Brecon, Wales, the United Kingdom. In a competition with 100 teams that participated at this event they achieved more than 55 percent task completion, won the 3rd place and a bronze medal.
During the exercise, which is in several phases, 48 hours each, the team consisting of 10 members of the RECONIBn participated in the second phase of the competition in the period from 7 to 9 October, 2023. In 48 hours our team had a task of patrolling along the terrain of the Black Mountains of the Cumbrian massif, where the team itself walked more than 70 km with all the equipment, individual and collective, and with a backpack weighing about 35 kg. In difficult terrain, under bad weather conditions, they successfully completed about 10 incidents (planning, crossing a contaminated land, crossing a water surface, target reconnaissance, crossing a minefield, medical evacuation, fire alarm, raid and debriefing).
During the patrol, the whole team was motivated and unreservedly, unselfishly and unsparingly performed all the assigned tasks and challenges.
The exercise “Cambrian Patrol” is one of the 5 most difficult and complex military exercises in the world.
