From 6 to 18 September 2026, personnel from the Army’s Reconnaissance and Intelligence Battalion participated in the “COMMON CHALLENGE 26” multinational military exercise in Montenegro.
The exercise provided an opportunity to enhance tactical capabilities, exchange professional experience, and strengthen cooperation and interoperability with personnel from the Armed Forces of Montenegro, Slovenia, Spain, Austria and the United States.
Through the conduct of practical tactical activities, movement across challenging terrain and the application of standard operating procedures, exercise participants worked to enhance individual and collective readiness. Particular emphasis was placed on teamwork, discipline, endurance and the ability to operate in complex mountainous conditions.
On 17 September 2026, a Distinguished Visitors’ Day was held as part of the exercise, attended by representatives of the Operations Command and the Reconnaissance and Intelligence Battalion, as well as senior civilian and military representatives from the participating countries. During the event, the activities conducted and the capabilities of the participating units were presented, with participants demonstrating a high level of training, professionalism, discipline and mutual coordination in the challenging mountainous conditions at the Training Area “Pirlitor.”
Participation in multinational military exercises of this kind contributes to enhancing operational capabilities, strengthening mutual trust and developing interoperability among the armed forces of partner nations.
