On 25 June 2026, as part of the programme of activities aimed at maintaining and enhancing the unit’s operational capabilities, members of the Helicopter Squadron of the Air Force WING conducted aerial firefighting training near Sredno Konjari, using water from the Pchinja River.
During the activity, a Mi-8MT helicopter was employed, with the crew carrying out a series of practical tasks with a firefighting bucket. The tasks included drawing water from a water surface, accurately releasing water over designated locations, and performing flight maneuvers under conditions simulating the real challenges of combating wildfires.
The training represents an important element of the preparations for the summer season and it is focused on maintaining a high level of readiness, coordination, and efficiency of the flight personnel in carrying out missions in support of the institutions responsible for protection and rescue.
The activity was conducted in accordance with the prescribed procedures and safety standards, with all planned training objectives successfully achieved. Through activities of this kind, the AF WING continues to strengthen its capabilities for a rapid and effective response in situations requiring the deployment of air assets to protect the population and the country’s natural resources.
