Today, the Chief of the General Staff of the Army, Major General Sashko Lafchiski, held a farewell meeting at the General Staff with the Commander of the South-Eastern Europe Brigade (SEEBRIG), Brigadier General Bilbil Bitri, marking the end of the SEEBRIG Headquarters mandate in our country and its relocation to Istanbul, Republic of Türkiye.
At the meeting, the participants exchanged views on their cooperation to date, Major General Lafchiski expressed his appreciation for Brigadier General Bitri’s leadership and dedication, highlighting his contribution to strengthening regional military cooperation.
During the six-year deployment of the SEEBRIG Headquarters at the “Boro Menkov” barracks in Kumanovo, the Army provided comprehensive institutional and logistic support for its operations, contributed with staff personnel and declared units and successfully conducted numerous training activities, working meetings, and international engagements. During this period the computer-assisted exercises with field components, “SEVEN STARS 22” and “SEVEN STARS 25” were successfully executed, once again demonstrating the high level of interoperability and readiness of the participating nations.
SEEBRIG is a multinational brigade established in 1999 within the framework of the South-Eastern Europe Defense Ministerial Process (SEDM), with the aim of strengthening regional military cooperation, confidence-building, stability, and interoperability among the armed forces of its member nations. In accordance with the principle of rotation, the SEEBRIG Headquarters will continue its mission in Istanbul, Republic of Türkiye, from 2026, following six years of successful operation in our country.
