The Chief of the General Staff of the Army, Major General Sashko Lafchiski, met today with the newly appointed U.S. Defense Attaché to the Republic of North Macedonia, Lieutenant Colonel Andrew Shelley.
During the meeting, General Lafchiski congratulated Lieutenant Colonel Shelley on his appointment and wished him success in carrying out his duties.
The meeting reaffirmed the excellent bilateral cooperation between the two armies, which continues to be enhanced through joint participation in exercises, U.S. support for the development and modernization of the Army’s capabilities, as well as opportunities for professional development and education of Army personnel. Both sides also expressed their readiness to continue and further strengthen this cooperation.
Throughout his career, Lieutenant Colonel Shelley has held a number of positions in the United States and abroad and has received several military decorations for his service.
