This year the “9th Army Championship in cross-country running’’ organized by ARM General Staff was held in “Ilinden” barracks.
Fifty Army members and members of several athletic teams of the Athletic Federation of Macedonia showed their physical condition on the track in “Ilinden” barracks in the length of 6 km for men and 3 km for women.
Colonel Dodevski who spoke on the behalf of Chief of General Staff, at the opening of the tournament underlined the importance of sport in the Army, but he also stressed the importance of socializing and gaining friendships through sport activities.
The best positioned in the women’s competition was Marija Dimevska from the Special Operations Regiment, second place went to Marija Pelikon from the Ceremonial Guard Battalion, while the third place went to Victoria Zdravkovska a first year cadet at the Military Academy. The best team in women’s competition was the female Training and Doctrine Command team, the female members of the Ranger Battalion won the second place and the third went to the Ceremonial Guard Battalion.
In men’s competition, the first place went to professional soldier Milos Ranchic from the Aviation Brigade, second was Major Igor Jakimovski and third professional soldier Igor Cvetanovski both from Special Operations Regiment. Team members of the Special Operations Battalion won the first place, Ranger Battalion the second, while the third place went to the Joint Operations Command team.
Upon completion of the competition, the most successful individuals and teams were awarded medals and trophies, while a medal for the eldest participant in this championship was awarded to Branislav Jargich, a retired ARM member.
