The members of the Engineers Battalion celebrated “13th November – Day of the Unit” in barracks “Ilinden” in Skopje with a military ceremony.
The ceremony was attended by: Deputy Commander of the Operations Command (OC) Brigadier General Orce Jordev, Chief of staff of the 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade, Commanders of units in the Army, former Commanders and employees of the Engineers battalion, representatives of civilian organizations that cooperate with the battalion and other guests.
In his speech the Commander of the Engineers battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Arben Jakupi addressed the past, the founding of the Engineers Brigade as a day to remember, be proud of and respect. The Engineers Battalion cherishes and carries on the traditions of the Engineers Brigade from WWII Head Quarters, established on 13th November 1944. He also emphasized that last year despite the fact that the Battalion faced different challenges, many exercises and activities were completed to the best of their abilities.
The Deputy Commander of OC, Brigadier General Orce Jordev, stressed that in the new structure and formation of the Army the members of the Engineers Battalion who represent a blend of outstanding professionalism, dedication and self-sacrifice in the execution of the tasks will take their place. Without a doubt, they will cope with the challenges of tomorrow professionally and efficiently.
On the occasion of the day of the unit congratulation letters were read and incentives were presented. The Pioneer Platoon of the 1st Engineers Company was declared as the best platoon, and a blood donation was organized previously.
The ceremony finished with a tactical technical demonstration during which some of the means that are available to the unit were presented.
