The President of Republic of North Macedonia and Supreme Commander of the Army, Stevo Pendarovski, accompanied by the Chief of General Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurchinovski had a tour of the Krivolak Training Area and had an insight of the engineering activities which are performed within the project on improvement of the training area road infrastructure.
Lieutenant General Gjurchinovski, the Commanders of the Operations Command, and the Engineering Battalion acquainted the Supreme Commander with the performed activities and the expected benefits, especially during exercise activities of the units of the Army, as well as during the mutual exercises with the NATO allies.
During his visit to the Krivolak Traiing Area, President Pendarovski was also informed about the forthcoming exercise “Decisive Strike 21”, as well as about the intensive cooperation of the Army with the Defense Cooperation Office within the USA Embassy. The cooperation resulted with the donation of materials for construction and repair of the road infrastructure of the Krivolak Training Area. As the President Pendarovski stated: “This is direct benefit from the membership of Republic of North Macedonia in NATO and the cooperation with the USA, as one of our greatest strategic partners”.
After the tour and familiarization with the activities, President Pendarovski said that as the thirtieth member nation of NATO we have so much to offer to our allies in the Alliance. “The Krivolak Training Area, with the modernization investment is one of the resources which we can offer to NATO”, said President Pendarovski.
The members of the Engineering Battalion have been engaged in performance of engineering activities since the middle of May in order to improve the road infrastructure inside the Training Area over a ring road and internal connection with total length of 74 km with the surrounding roads, which will enable performance of bigger exercises and rationalization of the resources of vehicles by shortening the distance and time necessary to connect access points from one place to another in the training area.
This will also result in establishment of new exercise points at places which were unreachable untill now.
