The members of the Special Forces Battalion marked the Day of the Unit – March 1, with a military ceremony honouring the day when in 1994 the first special unit, and the first professional unit of the Army was established.
The members of the unit were addressed by the Chief of the General Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurchinovski, who after congratulating them on the Day of the unit stressed that the vision behind establishing a small, mobile unit, which is at the same time respectable and recognized in this region, has been completely achieved.
The general also added that the members of the battalion should be proud of the fact that, in our country, this battalion is recognized as the best unit of the Army due to its dedication and supreme capabilities.
“Your selfless commitment in the recent humanitarian operation has demonstrated the capacity and the professionalism of this unit” stated General Gjurchinovski.
The Commander of the Special Forces Battalion Lieutenant Colonel, Oliver Zariovski, speaking on the behalf of the unit’s members, said that during these 29 years of existence this unit had never put limits on possibilities, thus confirming the unit’s motto “First Always and Everywhere”, which depicts the unfaltering readiness of the unit, not only to defend the country but also when providing support and help whenever they are needed.
At the celebration of the day of the unit, the members of the battalion with the best achievements, including the 58 members who took part in the recent humanitarian operation in Turkiye, received incentive awards.
