On 18 October, an earthquake first aid simulation exercise was conducted. The simulation exercise was organized and supported by the President of Republic of North Macedonia, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the devastating earthquake in Skopje, as well as the frequent natural disasters in the country and the region. The aim of this exercise was to improve cooperation and coordination between several institutions in dealing with natural disasters.
The purpose of their participation was to practice triage, first aid and transport of casualties.
The medical teams included experts from the Red Cross of North Macedonia and the Army. The medics, together with the expert logistics team from the Military Medical Center which set up the tents and equipment, showed successful cooperation, speed and efficiency in the response.
The reception and treatment of the injured were carried out by medical instructors from the Medical Training Department, medical personnel from the Military Medical Center units, Prilep and Kichevo’s Municipal Red Cross Organizations, as well as expert teams for first psychological aid.
Their participation significantly contributed to strengthening cooperation and practically repeating the guidelines for casualties’ pre-hospital care.
In addition to members of the Military Medical Center, members of other Army units actively participated in the exercise.
