From 16 to 19 November 2025, a delegation of the Army, led by the Chief of the General Staff of the Army, Major General Sashko Lafchiski, took part in the Southern Commanders’ Coordination Conference 2025 (SCCC 2025).
Today, as part of the conference, General Lafchiski attended the Change of Command Ceremony at the Allied Joint Force Command Naples (JFCNP), at which Admiral Stuart Munsch handed over the command to Admiral George Wikoff.
The conference, which continued with working sessions, was also attended by representatives of six NATO partner countries, members of the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative and the Mediterranean Dialogue.
During his stay, the Chief of the Army General Staff held separate meetings with the outgoing and incoming Commanders of JFCNP, as well as with the Chiefs of Defense of allied and partner countries from the region. During these meetings, views were exchanged on areas of mutual interest, as well as on opportunities for enhancing regional cooperation with the aim of strengthening the security environment.
SCCC 2025 is an annual conference attended by the Chiefs of Defense of 13 NATO member countries that are part of the Joint Operations Area – Southeast, as well as by the Commanders of the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps from Italy, Greece, and Turkey. The conference is also attended by the Commanders of the KFOR mission (Kosovo Force), the NATO Mission in Iraq (NMI), and the EU operation ALTHEA.
