At the “Mirche Acev” barracks in Prilep, the service personnel of the Artillery Battalion (ABn), part of the 1st Infantry Brigade (1st IBde), marked 10 April – the Day of the Unit with an official military ceremony.
The event was attended by the Commander of the 1st Infantry Brigade, Brigadier General Dejan Chiplakovski, chiefs of section from the brigade command and staff, commanders of subordinate units, former commanders, mayors of municipalities from the region, and other guests. The ceremony was enriched by a performance of the national anthem by the Prilep Octet.
Addressing the audience, the Commander of the Artillery Battalion, Lieutenant, Colonel Sashko Paleski, delivered a speech highlighting the unit’s history, conducted activities, and achieved results over the past period, as well as the tasks ahead.
The Commander of the 1st Infantry Brigade, Brigadier General Dejan Chiplakovski, congratulated the Day of the Unit, wishing good health and success to the personnel and their families. In his address, he emphasized that this year marks 34 years since the establishment of the first artillery unit following the country’s independence, underlining the significant role and firepower of the Artillery Battalion within the Army.
He pointed out that the unit has successfully introduced the “Boran” howitzers into operational use, conducted significant training and live-fire exercises, and finalized the preparations of the howitzer battery, whose combat readiness will be evaluated in the upcoming period as part of the Light Infantry Battalion Group. He also conveyed a message of continued dedication, professionalism, and commitment to the mission of defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.
On the occasion of the Day of the Unit, incentive awards were given to members of the battalion, while the Second Fire Platoon of the First Artillery Battery was declared the best platoon and received the transitional trophy and the unit’s flag.
Ahead of the Day of the Unit, a blood donation campaign was also conducted, during which 42 units of blood were collected, along with a presentation of the weapons and equipment used by the Battalion.
