The Army members once again proved themselves as top athletes and promoters of the sports activities that are part of the army’s everyday life. Last weekend at the National Arena “Toshe Proeski” organized by the Athletic Federation of Macedonia (AFM) in the two-day National Senior Championship for 2023, several members of the Army participated through their parent athletic clubs.
The most notable performance was by captain Tosev Zhan, who competed in the 5000-meter race on the first day of the competition finishing the race with second place, which separated him from the winning score by only 70 hundredths. That’s why he won the next competition in the 3000-meter discipline, and for the first time in his career, he was awarded the title of State Champion.
Captain Tosev Zhan, who is a member of the Honour Guard Battalion, has several notable results, among which is last year’s victory at the International Skopje Marathon in the half-marathon discipline. He is also a marathon runner with the second-best time on a certified track in the history of the country and the athlete of the year for 2022 within the Army. For more than 10 years, he has been competing in the country and abroad, in all competitions organized by AFM, where in addition to his work duties, he has recorded exceptional results and achievements, which shows that the Army has in its ranks not only well-prepared psycho-physical members but also top athletes and professionals of whom they should be particularly proud.
