Today, 16th of October (Wednesday) early in the morning, the Declared Medium Infantry Battalion Group (MIBG), successfully did a march from military barracks “Boro Menkov” in Kumanovo to army training area (MTA) “Krivolak. This march was the first part of the final phase of the exercise “Balkans Flesh 9”. The servicemen of the 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade (1MIBde) did the march by making a convoy of 180 vehicles, as one of the first combat procedures which MIBG was assessed for.
By the end of the day MIBG will be assessed, at MTA “Krivolak”, for dealing with events and incidents, when they have to do the following tasks: road block, explosive device location, convoy escort and convoy attack, mobile and static checkpoints, reconnaissance patrol, procedures for artillery attack on a base, air attack, securing an area and search, handling a contaminated area, MEDEVAC and CASEVAC and etc. Today, the field hospital of ARM (NATO 1) will be in the final phase of assessment at the Training Center “Pepelishte”. The units from MIBG are expected to demonstrate high level of interoperability and operations capability, and to meet the assessment criteria determined by the Operations Capability Concept of NATO.
There is one more project within the exercise, connected to civilian and military cooperation, which will be executed by the end of the day, concerning the environmental protection of the area. The servicemen of the engineers battalion will use the vehicles and equipment from the 1MIBde to remove the debris around village Krivolak, in order to keep a clean and healthy environment.
