The fifth regional workshop for the exercise “REGEX 19” took place at the hotel “Holiday Inn” in Skopje from the 10.06 to 14.06.2019. Representatives from 20 partner countries and the NATO Allied Joint Force Command participated in the workshop.
The workshop was opened by the Director of the exercise Colonel Zvonko Majstorski, who welcomed the planners of the countries participating in the exercise, and then the Officer of Primary Responsibility informed them about the current phase of the planning process and the agenda for the workshop activities.
The participants planning the exercise during the workshop were visited by the Commander of the Joint Operations Command (JOC), Major General Pavle Arsoski. General Arsoski addressed the participants and wished them a pleasant stay in the Republic of North Macedonia and successful work at the workshop, stressing the importance of the cooperation between the 22 partner countries that are part of the exercise planning team. He also highlighted the benefits from the exercise for our army as a host of the same and as an aspiring NATO member.
The following are some of the activities that were covered during these five days: working on the exercise plan, developing the Operation Plan (OPLAN) by the Higher Command (HICON), establishing the Training Objectives of the multinational exercise “REGEX 19” with the representatives of the partner countries and the NATO Allied Joint Force Command, specifying the list of main activities of the exercise and the participants during the execution phase by the participating countries, and developing and specifying the scenario.
The Medical Training Department (MTD) and the Balkan Medical Task Force (BMTF), which are under the JOC command, were presented, and on 13.06.2019 the participants from Columbia gave a presentation about their country and army.
The representatives of the countries participating in the exercise “REGEX 19” also had an opportunity to visit the cultural sights in Shtip, like the old city Bargala and the city museum.
At the end of the workshop the director of the exercise expressed his gratitude to the participants for their contribution and announced the next phase of the planning process of the exercise – the final planning conference which will take place from 03 to 06.09.2019.
