The International Women’s Day was celebrated in the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia traditionally as previous years. Celebration activities included participation in conferences, panel discussions, as well as traditional gathering of servicewomen in the General Staff and subordinate commands and units.
The Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurchinovski attended the gathering of the women serving in the General Staff of the Army.
General Vasko Gjurchinovski commended all servicewomen of the Army for their dedication and professionalism, acknowledging their performance contribution to their work assignments as part of the Army activities.
The percentage of women serving in the Army at the moment is 10.65%, 9.32% of which are active-duty force, (women make up 18.16% of the officers, 11.80% of the NCOs, and 5,88% of the enlisted forces) while women make up 30.15% of the civilians. There is an increase of the percentage of women in the Army, especially at the officers’ corps, hence there are 7 women Colonels, as the highest rank of women in the Army, 44 Lieutenant Colonels, and for the first time, there is a woman Chief of Section in the General Staff of the Army.
