The first meeting of the coordination group for the 15th Balkan Countries Chiefs of Defense/General Staffs Forum took place in the Army House – Skopje, in the period from November 30 to December 2, 2021.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the region’s capitals: Skopje, Sofia, Tirana, Ankara, Athens, Belgrade, Bucharest, Podgorica and Sarajevo. The meeting was chaired by Colonel Vlade Bisoski, Chief of the Office for Inter-Army Cooperation of the Army General Staff.
The aim of the meeting was to review the joint statement of the Conference for the 14th Balkan Countries Chiefs of Defense/General Staffs Forum, review the status of current activities and projects under the auspices of the Forum and establish the organizational framework for the implementation of the Chiefs’ guidelines for the 15th Balkan Countries Chiefs of Defense/General Staffs Forum.
At the beginning of the meeting, the participants stressed the importance of military cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to enhance and promote regional stability and security in the Balkans through military cooperation.
During the meeting, through a constructive discussion, the following documents were adopted by consensus of all participants:
- List of tasks of the Coordination Group
- Calendar of activities
- List of tasks of the Asymmetric Threats Subgroup
- List of tasks of the Subgroup for Education, Training and Exercises
