Today, at the Army House in Skopje, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Army, Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova was briefed on the situation and implementation of plans and tasks for the current year that affect the combat readiness of the Army.
During the briefing on Army Combat Readiness, the Chief of the General Staff, Major General Sashko Lafchiski informed President Siljanovska, Defence Minister Vlado Misajlovski, Army Generals and presidential and minister Cabinets’ representatives about the situation in the Army regarding the functional areas which are part of combat readiness.
At this annual briefing to the military leaders, the accomplished tasks and achievements of the Army in 2024 were presented, covering the following areas: personnel management and morale, force protection, operations in country and abroad, trainings and military exercises, logistic support, military planning and structure of forces, signals and communication, budgeting and civil-military cooperation.
In his presentation General Lafchiski pointed out that the Army in this past year successfully completed all planned tasks, and that combat readiness is at the necessary level. Army commands and units’ readiness is characterized by timely realization of activities with planned dynamics in the process of transformation, with an emphasis on implementing the process of modernization in terms of capacity development and NATO capability aims, training according to NATO standards and current security challenges.
The Army, by participating in NATO, EU and UN-led operations, conveys our strong commitment to sustaining peace and stability.
Army members continuously demonstrate high level of training, commitment and interoperability with ally and partner armies by taking part in many international exercises in the country and abroad, among which is military exercise ‘Maple Arch ‘24’ where we were the host country.
At the briefing, president Siljanovska-Davkova stressed that Army members repeatedly demonstrate their professionalism, discipline and readiness, by successfully completing their tasks and guaranteeing safety, stability and national defense.
The president confirmed her intention to extend the process of modernization of the Army and invest in human capital, underlying that due to the dedication of Macedonian soldiers and officers, our country was and still is a strong and dependable partner in regional and global safety.
Therefore, she supports the contribution of the Macedonian Army to the collective security, through active participation in NATO joint missions and operations, as well as the unreserved engagement in dealing with, and extinguishing the wildfires in the country this year.
In the end, the president concluded that the fact the Army enjoys public’s trust and highest reputation confirms its credibility and dignity in the country and abroad.
At todays’ annual briefing minister Misajlovski highlighted that in the following year investment in defense capacities necessary for the Army, in personnel, new modern equipment and infrastructure will continue with greater intensity. He added that the envisaged budget for defense will enable fulfilling of defense plans, and by that the Army, which is one of the pillars of the country, will be ready to immediately respond to all tasks and challenges. Misajlovski stated that country and citizens’ safety, as well as contribution to collective security are of great importance for further prosperity of the country, and that he as a Defense Minister will exert maximum effort for the development of the Macedonian Army.
