The Chief of General Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurchinovski, who is on an official visit to the Armed Forces of the Republic of Turkey, today in Ankara, had a meeting with the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Turkey, General Yasar Guler.
After the reception with military honors, the Generals Gjurchinovski and Guler discussed the bilateral military cooperation, and considered the possibilities for its further expansion through new forms of joint performance and cooperation, as well as intensification of the existing one, which consists of joint training and exercises, joint participation in missions and use of the capacities of the two armies.
General Gjurchinovski expressed his gratitude to General Guler for the unreserved support and assistance provided by the Republic of Turkey not only in the integration process, but also for our full membership in the NATO Alliance and the numerous donations of military equipment. General Gjurchinovski emphasized our joint participation in peacekeeping operations, primarily in Afghanistan, where many of our rotations were under the auspices of the Turkish contingent.
During the visit, the army delegation led by General Gjurchinovski will visit the command of the Turkish Special Forces, as well as part of the military-industrial facilities.
The Republic of Turkey, as our strategic partner, is an important factor and contributor to the modernization of the Army and its equipping with new, modern means, compatible with the standards of NATO member states, including the latest donation of a towed train. As part of the mutual military cooperation, the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia participated with 13 rotations of staff officers in the mission “Resolute Support” at the General Staff of the Training, Counseling and Assistance Command in Kabul, for which the Republic of Turkey is responsible.
