High level military delegation of the Armed Forces (AF) of Hungary, led by the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Hungary General Tibor Benko, who is in an official visit to Macedonia and the Macedonian Army, visited the General Staff (GS) of ARM today.
The delegation accompanied by the Ambassador of Hungary in the Republic of Macedonia, HE Jozsef Bencze was received with military honors by ARM Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Metodija Velickovski, followed by a meeting between the Chiefs of Staff and a meeting with Defense Minister Zoran Jolevski.
The need to intensify bilateral cooperation between the two armies and exchange of experience in dealing with current security challenges related to migrant crisis, the possibility of joint appearances in conducting military training using the capacities of the MoD and ARM were among the key topics during official talks attended by key personnel of the GS of ARM.
Activities undertaken by ARM in dealing with the current migrant crisis, process of transformation of ARM and participation in peace support operations were presented to the delegation among other things.
During the day General Tibor Benko will be received by President of the Republic of Macedonia and the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Macedonia HE Dr. Gjorge Ivanov. The following day the delegation will visit the Military Range “Krivolak” and watchtower Bogorodica on Macedonian-Greek border, where they will have the opportunity to learn about the activities that ARM units successfully pursue to support MoI units in dealing with the challenges of the migrant crisis.
The visits at the level of chiefs of NATO member armies conducted in this period are a great opportunity to deepen and intensify bilateral military cooperation and expect their support for full membership of Macedonia in NATO.
