On the occasion of the eighteenth anniversary of the helicopter accident in which eleven members of the Army tragically lost their lives while returning from the ALTHEA peace support operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, delegations from the Ministry of Defense and the Army General Staff paid their respects at the memorial site near Katlanovo Blace. The delegations were led by Minister of Defense, Vlado Misajlovski and the Chief of the General Staff of the Army, Major General Sashko Lafchiski, along with representatives from the Operations Command, the municipality of Petrovec, families of the fallen members, and the civil association “Sila”.
Members of the Air Force VING paid tribute to the dead with a minute of silence and laid wreaths of fresh flowers at the memorial in front of the VING command at the “NH Strasho Pindzhur” barracks in Petrovec, as well as at the memorial park at Camp Butmir in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, where our members were part of the ALTEA mission.
On this day, eighteen years ago, returning from the ALTHEA peace support operation, the following military personnel tragically lost their lives in the helicopter accident: Lieutenant Colonel Toni Spasovski, Major Goran Ristovski, Captains Brane Spasovski and Igor Gjoreski, Master Sergeants Slavcho Vasilev and Toni Davitkovski, Staff Sergeants, Janko Shirikj and Aleksandar Taskovski, Sergenats Miki Ivanovski and Aleksandar Vasikj, and Corporal Zlatko Veljanovski.
