Today (April 9, 2015), with high military honors, at the ARM GS, a distinguished delegation from the Slovenian Armed Forces led by the Chief of Staff, Major General Andrej Osterman, who has been on an official visit to the ARM since yesterday, was received.
Addressing the media, the Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Gorancho Koteski, assessed the cooperation with the Armed Forces of the Republic of Slovenia as excellent, and stated that in the future, it will be enhanced on other fields as well. Highlighting the importance of the exchange of experiences in participating in international missions led by NATO, the EU and the UN, and in the context of regional cooperation, he pointed out that the ARM will draw on the experiences of the Slovenian Army, regarding the air space protection and air defense organization of the Republic of Macedonia. The ARM Chief of Staff emphasized the long standing cooperation through implementation of joint exercises at ATA “Krivolak”, indicating the possibility of organizing joint exercises with firing of artillery weapons of a larger range.
Expressing his satisfaction with the excellent cooperation with the ARM, Osterman declared willingness to expand this cooperation to multiple fields and joint participation in exercises, as well as implementation of other forms of cooperation beneficial to both armies.
The Minister of Defence, Zoran Jolevski, at this meeting with the Chief of General Staff of the Slovenian Armed Forces, expressed gratitude to the Republic of Slovenia and its armed forces for the ample support in the Euro-Atlantic integration of the Republic of Macedonia, emphasizing that the cooperation in the defence field between the two countries in the following period will be increased.
At the meeting in the ARM GS, apart from promoting the bilateral military cooperation, the implementation of specific projects for joint training between the two armies was discussed as well as experiences in participation in international missions were exchanged.
During his stay in the Republic of Macedonia, the Chief of Staff of the Slovenian armed forces visited the Pilot Training Centre where he was familiarized with the facilities and training opportunities.
