The members of the Logistic Base (LB), which provides logistic support to the commands and units of the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia, marked May 20 – Day of the Unit in the barracks “Ilinden”.
During the ceremony, the members of the unit were addressed by the Deputy Minister of Defence, Tiron Jajaga, the Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Major General Azim Nuredin, as well as the Logistic Base Commander, Colonel Muharem Muharemi.
During his address on the occasion of the Day of the Unit, the Deputy Minister of Defence, Tiron Jajaga congratulated all members and emphasized the role of the Logistic Base as one of the main pillars in the functioning of the Army, a unit that effectively and efficiently provides clear support to all other entities in the Army such as the commands, the units that are deployed to peacekeeping missions, to the southern border, during exercise activities, but that also provided logistic support to other institutions and the civilian population.
“I was personally convinced, and now I already know that the Logistic Base has experienced, conscientious and hard-working staff, that with their knowledge, experience and dedication to work will deal with all the challenges that are expected in the period ahead. You should continue with your commitment, because the success of your command implies the success of our entire Army,” said Jajaga.
After the brief historical review of the unit, General Nuredin congratulated the members of the LB, pointing out that the dedication, capacity and professionalism are recognized through the support they provide during the regular activities of the units in the Army, to the contingents deployed to operations led by NATO, EU and UN, as well as during the international exercises. At the same time, he praised them for the continuous logistic support for the biggest international exercise this year, “Swift Response 23”, which will take place from May 22 to June 2 at the TA “Krivolak”.
In his speech, the Commander of the Logistic Base, Colonel Muharem Muharemi emphasized the completed and current tasks that the members of this unit perform with maximum commitment, while adding that the quick and timely deployment of forces implies effective and complete logistic support, which is of vital importance for successful fulfillment of the operational ambitions and the objectives of combat units.
As part of the ceremony, incentive measures were announced to the members of the unit who achieved notable results in their work.
The ceremony was also attended by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Vladimir Anchev, the Director of the General Staff, Brigadier General Simeon Trajkovski, commanders of the units in the Army, representatives of the General Staff, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as representatives of the civilian structures with which the unit cooperates.
The Logistic Base is the highest unit in the area of logistics in the Army, whose basic mission is to plan, organize, coordinate and carry out logistic support to the commands and units of the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia.
May 20 is set as the Day of the Logistic Base, by decision of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces for determining the days of units, in memory of the start of the first logistic preparations for the Razlog Uprising.
