ARM Chief of General Staff, Major General Vasko Gjurchinovski, had a working meeting at the NATO Liaison Office in the Republic of Macedonia with the Chief of the Office, Naval Captain Gorazd Bartol and the personnel, in order to coordinate further joint activities.
At the meeting, also attended by the Chief of Section for Inter-army Cooperation and the Sergeant Major of the Army, the current joint activities and utilization of the opportunities provided by the NATO Liaison Office in the Republic of Macedonia, which has advisory role in accession activities for full membership in NATO, were discussed.
At the end of the meeting, General Gjurchinovski emphasized the positive aspects of the mutual direct coordination with the NATO liaison office, which contributes to more effective implementation of the necessary reforms in ARM.
The NATO Liaison Office, with its current name, has been in existence since April 1, 2012, and operates in the Republic of Macedonia under another name since April 2002. The office has advisory mission regarding the military reforms for Euro-Atlantic integration, which have been implemented in the MOD and ARM, as well as to provide support to NATO-led operations on the Balkans.
