The ARM Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Metodija Velichkovski, today (26 October), held a meeting with the KFOR Commander Major General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta during his official visit to the ARM GS.
During his stay at the ARM GS, General Miglietta was received by the Minister of Defence, Zoran Jolevski.
At the meeting with the ARM Chief of GS, the possibilities for improving the cooperation with KFOR, the security situation in the region, as well as the exchange of information with the ARM were discussed. The KFOR Commander informed the ARM Chief of Staff about the security situation in the KFOR zone of responsibility as well as the activities and future plans. General Velichkovski stressed the support of the Republic of Macedonia for the NATO KFOR mission, and the role of the Republic of Macedonia in building security and stability in the region.
It was concluded that the Army and the KFOR have established excellent cooperation which will continue to develop in the future in the interest of strengthening the security in the region.
Within the KFOR mission, Macedonia provides ongoing logistical support for NATO from the very beginning. As it is known, in June 2007, the Host Nation Support Coordination Cell (HNSCC), which is in the formational composition of the ARM Logistic Support Brigade, was put in full operational readiness. Its main task is to coordinate with KFOR in customs and border procedures of transport, including other needs of KFOR in the area of logistic provision, in which way ARM indirectly participates in the KFOR mission.
