The Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurchinovski, who is on a working visit to Brussels, today at the NATO Headquarters in Brussels participated in the regular session of the NATO Military Committee (MC).
The meeting, chaired by MC Admiral Rob Bauer, was attended by the Allied Commanders-in-Chief of Europe and the Allied Transformation Forces, Generals Todd Waters and Philip Lavigne.
At the inaugural session, Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg presented the current security situation in a geostrategic context to the leaders of NATO members armies, as well as the activities related to the NATO Summit to be held next month in Madrid, Spain.
In the scheduled sessions, the Chiefs of Staff discussed the security situation related to the war in Ukraine, the implementation of the NATO concept of deterrence and defence, regional defence cooperation and projects related to NATO’s long-term defence position.
General Gjurchinovski held a speech during one of the sessions, and had bilateral meetings with the leaders of the Allied armies, during which opinions are shared and bilateral defence activities are initiated.
The conclusions reached after today’s meeting of the MC were announced by the chairman and supreme commanders of the Allied forces at a press conference.
During his working visit, the Chief of General Staff attended yesterday the meeting of the European Union Military Committee at the level of Chiefs of General Staff, where they discussed the military and civilian missions and operations of the European Union.
During his stay in Brussels, General Gjurchinovski also met with our representatives in the mission of the Republic of North Macedonia to NATO.
The Army of the Republic of North Macedonia with its continuous participation in EU and NATO peacekeeping operations and international exercise activities strengthens its readiness and interoperability in accordance with certain objectives of capabilities, for which it is recognized as a respectable ally.
