The servicemen in the Army of the Republic of Macedonia successfully demonstrated their shooting skills acquired during the 25-year existence of ARM by participating in the eleventh international shooting tournament “Grand Prix Skopje-2017” that was held today at the shooting range “Kamnik” in Skopje.
On behalf of the Chief of General Staff of ARM, the tournament was opened by the Special Operations Regiment Commander Brigadier General Orce Jordev who in his speech emphasized the significance of this kind of sport for the military profession, wishing the contestants to achieve excellent results.
Apart from the Republic of Macedonia, contestants from Germany, Russia, USA, Slovenia, Serbia, Montenegro and Switzerland participated in the following disciplines: 25m pistol, 100m rifle, 100m tactical semiautomatic sniper rifle and a hunting sniper rifle.
Over 220 participants took part in the competitions, 76 were servicemen in the commands and units of ARM and they achieved the following results: 7, 9 mm rifle Tomislav Gonchev from the Special Operations Regiment won first place, 100m rifle the Special Operations Regiment team won fourth place out of eight teams, and out of eight teams sniper the GS of ARM won fourth place, while the JOC team won fifth place.
In the discipline 25m pistol Irena Petrovska from Special Operations Regiment won third place, Special Operations Regiment won second place for team shooting and GS of ARM third place, that is GS of ARM in the category for team competition men won sixth place out of 14 teams.
The results show that traditionally the servicemen of ARM win high results in this kind of competitions which demonstrates the readiness and training in shooting skills.
The tournament which is one of the biggest and most attractive annual shooting competitions is organized by the Macedonian International Shooting Federation, and traditionally, in addition to participating ARM contributes by arranging and securing the shooting ranges where the competitions are held.
