On 21.03.2014 at the garrisons in Kumanovo, Skopje, Shtip, Tetovo, Prilep and Kichevo the members of the Joint Operations Command (JOC) and the first subordinate commands and units have traditionally supported the environmental action “Spring Day” which this year is being held under the slogan “Macedonia Land of Flowers – Land of Roses”.
During these environmental activities hundreds of seedlings of roses, other flowers and young seedlings of cypress were planted in several locations in the barracks, especially in areas that are located beside busy streets with moving traffic.
In the wake of this campaign aimed at protecting and promoting the environment and nature, for a few days in the barracks where all units in the composition of the JOC are situated, cleaning and trimming around the barracks have been also performed.
Also ,members of the 1 st Mechanized Infantry Battalion from Kumanovo were actively involved in the project organized by PE “Macedonian Forests”- subsidiary Kumanovo, to reforest burnt and barren areas in the region of the municipality of Lipkovo, planting around 25,000 seedlings.
This indicates an additional incentive to further support actions of this type, because the protection and promotion of environment and nature are increasingly imposed as synonymous strategy of human survival and the preservation of our quality of life.
In the past years, members of the Macedonian have been actively involved in all actions in the field of ecology and environmental protection and provided an active contribution to the preservation of the environment in general.
