On 6 July 2026, the Commander of the Operations Command, Brigadier General Mirche Gjorgoski, and the Commander of the 1st Infantry Brigade, Brigadier General Dejan Chiplakovski, held protocol meetings with the United Kingdom Defence Attaché, Lieutenant Colonel Denise McMahon.
The meetings took place at the Operations Command Headquarters in the “Boro Menkov” barracks in Kumanovo and at the Headquarters of the 1st Infantry Brigade in the “Strasho Pindzur” barracks in Petrovec.
During the meetings, appreciation was expressed for the continuous support provided by the United Kingdom in enhancing bilateral defence cooperation. It was emphasised that the long-standing partnership has been successfully developed through joint exercises, training, professional exchange of experience, and other activities of mutual interest.
As part of the visit, briefings were conducted during which the Defence Attaché was introduced to the history and organisational structure of the units, their current and planned training activities, preparations for upcoming exercises, the modernisation process, and the progress made in meeting NATO Capability Targets.
The importance of the United Kingdom’s support in developing the Army’s capabilities was also highlighted, particularly in the field of the professional development of Army personnel through education at higher military educational institutions in the United Kingdom. This represents further confirmation of the continuous cooperation and partnership between the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Armed Forces of the United Kingdom.
At the end of the meetings, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation between the Army and the Armed Forces of the United Kingdom.
