The Deputy Chief of the Army’s General Staff, Major General Azim Nuredin gave a speech at the ceremony on the occasion of the 125th Anniversary of the graduation of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk at the Military High School in Bitola.
In his address, General Nuredin pointed out that the time Kemal Ataturk spent in Bitola laid the foundations for the formation of his cosmopolitan intellectual awareness, that later opened up new horizons and perspectives for him. Here, he acquired the basic military skills and highest values, created unbreakable bonds and built a bridge of eternal friendship between the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Turkiye. A friendship that we have built, we are building and we will continue to build, emphasizing the excellent cooperation in the field of defence between our two friendly countries which began in 1994. Also, The Republic of North Macedonia selflessly responded to the call for help after the catastrophic earthquake, sending its own teams from the Army, confirming that friends help each other in good times and bad.
By carrying out various forms of joint exercises and training, as well as the excellent cooperation, the lessons learned and the experience gained by our members from the joint participation in the missions led by NATO, EU and UN in Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and other locations, the number of the members of the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia who had the opportunity to improve their skills and build peace together with the Turkish peacekeepers has increased.
The annual event in honor of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and his exceptional commitment to the world’s progress and promotion of permanent peace between nations, which was held in the museum in Bitola, was attended by the Acting Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of North Macedonia, Juneit Talha Ozjurek, the Deputy Minister of Defence Tiron Jajaga, representatives from the Ministry of Defence and the units of the Army, the Mayor of the Municipality of Bitola and representatives from the local self-government.
