In accordance with the 2026 Annual Training Calendar of the Training and Doctrine Command, the Canine Training Centre carried out a series of training courses within its assigned mission. These included courses for soldiers training as service dog handlers, as well as the training, retraining, and conditioning of service dogs for various operational tasks. From 12 February to 14 July 2026, the Centre also conducted a Narcotics Detection Course for Service Dog Handlers and Service Dogs.
The course was conducted in two phases. The initial two-month phase took place at the Canine Training Centre, while the three-month specialist phase was carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior’s K9 Unit at the Ministry’s training facilities.
As part of the final exercise, a specialized narcotics detection dog underwent a formal evaluation. The assessment included practical search tasks in open areas, as well as searches of buildings and indoor facilities, during which the capabilities and coordination of both the handler and the military working dog were evaluated to ensure the effective detection of narcotic substances.
