A team of the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia, from 27th September to 1st October, took part in the “12th Futsal Cup for Peace”. The 12th regional army tournament was held in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the participants were teams of the armies from the following countries: Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro.
The winner of the twelfth “Cup for Peace” was the team of Bosnia and Herzegovina Armed Forces. The Croatian army team was second, and the team of the Army of the Republic of Serbia was third.
The 12th futsal competition, between the armies in the region, was organised under the patronage of the International Military Sports Council (IMSC), and it was initiated at the 4th Military World Games in India in 2007, during the Sport for Peace Seminar. In 2005, at the IMSC headquarter in Brussels, the Army became a fully-fledged member of the IMSC, as the 127th out of 140 worldwide army-members.
The first “Futsal Cup for Peace” was held in 2009, hosted by the Army of Serbia. The Army of the Republic of North Macedonia hosted this event in 2013 and 2019.
