From 7 to 12 September 2026, the 16th Regional “Futsal Cup for Peace 2026” was held in Ohrid, organized by the Council for Military Sports within the Ministry of Defence and the Army. For the third time, the Army hosted this traditional regional military sports competition, held under the auspices of the International Military Sports Council (CISM), with Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina also taking part alongside the host country.
The tournament was played in a round-robin format, and with four points earned and a convincing victory in the final match, the Army team took first place and lifted the winner’s trophy. The team from Bosnia and Herzegovina finished in second place, while Slovenia took third place.
As part of the closing ceremony, individual awards were also presented. Pvt. Filip Lazarevski was named the best goalkeeper, having finished the tournament with only two goals conceded and the highest number of successful saves. The award for top scorer went to a player from Bosnia and Herzegovina, who scored three goals, while the captain of the Slovenian team was named the best player.
The organization of the “Futsal Cup for Peace 2026” once again demonstrated the commitment of the Ministry of Defence and the Army to the development of military sports and the strengthening of regional cooperation, friendship, and mutual trust among the armed forces of the region.
