The Chief of General Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurchinovski, during his working visit to Montenegro, had a meeting with his Montenegrin counterpart, the Army Chief of General Staff, Brigadier General Zoran Lazarevikj.
After the formal reception ceremony, both generals Gjurchinovski and Lazarevikj discussed a range of issues, including enrichment of the existing bilateral military cooperation in the field of training and military education, as well as possibilities for new forms of cooperation through joint training and use of countries’ capacities.
Generals Gjurchinovski and Lazarevikj, highlighted the excellent bilateral military cooperation so far, and noted their commitment to continuous improvement of security in the region through strengthening of defense and deterrence capacities.
General Gjurchinovski emphasized that he is particularly satisfied that cadets from Montenegro have been continuously trained at “General Mihajlo Apostolski” Military Academy since 2010 and have successfully applied the acquired knowledge in their careers in the Montenegrin Army.
Representatives from the General Staff of the Army of Montenegro presented to our delegation their activities related to preparations and participation in peace operations, as well as the training activities and the planned joining of formations of the Montenegrin army in the NATO battlegroups in Bulgaria.
The cooperation between the armies of the Republic of North Macedonia and Montenegro has been carried out through many activities, primarily in conducting joint training, sharing the facilities of the military training area Krivolak , as well as in military education.
During his stay in Montenegro, General Gjurchinovski will participate in the U.S. -Adriatic (A-5) Chiefs of Defense (CHOD) conference, which will take place in Budva, Montenegro from September 21 to 23.
