The Honor Guard Battalion, which is the most recognizable and one of the most representative units of the army, marked the day of the unit with a military ceremony at the “Ilinden” barracks in Skopje.
The Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurchinovski, congratulating the day of the unit to the battalion members, emphasized the importance of this unit, which has the role of dignified representation of the Army at all major activities in the country.
He also referred to the large number of tasks performed by this unit, with the assurance that, as before, with the full support of the General Staff, the unit will adequately respond to all the tasks.
The commander of the unit, Lieutenant Colonel Dejan Velichkoski, emphasized that the staff, the guardsmen and the military orchestra act united in promoting the values of the unit: “honor, courage and dedication”. At the same time, he pointed out that this unit, which is the notion of representativeness and dignity when conducting tasks with the highest military and state honors, will continue to work conscientiously and responsibly in the implementation of all protocol activities.
On the occasion of the day of the unit, incentive measures were also awarded to some of the members for the achieved results in the work and raising the combat readiness of the unit.
Unit commanders from the “Ilinden” barracks, as well as other commands and units of the Army, attended the celebration of the day of the unit.
Previously, as part of the activities to mark the day, the members of the unit traditionally had carried out a donation. This time, in cooperation with “Zhivko Brajkovski” elementary school, in the municipality of Butel, 2 Macedonian and Albanian classes of the 2nd grade were donated coloring sets and other school supplies, as well as confectionery products.
The Honor Guard Battalion celebrates the day of the unit as the bearer of the traditions of the first Macedonian Kosovo Strike Brigade which was formed on November 11, 1943, in the village of Slivovo.
