Deploying a Mi-8MT helicopter today, the Air Force WING of the Army provided direct aerial support to ground teams fighting a wildfire near the Skopje village of Grachani.
The helicopter completed multiple flights and executed 14 precise water drops, releasing a total of 28 tons of water onto critical hotspots during the three-hour intervention. The aerial operation targeted the most critical areas of the fire to prevent it from spreading further.
The aerial operation was executed in direct coordination with competent institutions and ground teams, dynamically adapting to the evolving situation and aerial support needs.
The Air Force WING remains in full operational readiness for further aerial support wherever it is most needed in order to protect the population, property, and the environment.
