The personnel of the Special Operations Unit the “Wolves” completed their first official drone operator training from September 9 to 12, 2025, at the “Ilinden” barracks. The drone used during the training was the Serçe 1, manufactured by the Turkish company Aselsan.
The training continued at the Army Training Area “Krivolak” from September 15 to 19, 2025, where the drones were operated in all weather and climate conditions, including low visibility, nighttime operations, high temperatures, and strong winds. The drones’ maximum capabilities and operational performance were also tested during this phase.
The highlight of the training—and a test of the participants’ readiness—was their involvement in a tactical demonstration exercise as part of the international exercise Operation Cold Peak 2025, alongside members of the Hungarian Armed Forces. During this exercise, two drones were simultaneously operated by the Hungarian Special Forces, and three drones by the Wolves unit.
Two drones served as ISR platforms for high-altitude reconnaissance and observation, while the remaining drones provided close support for reconnaissance and target guidance for advancing teams performing special tasks.
The training was led by Major Zlatko Stojanovski, a long-time enthusiast, designer, and operator of unmanned aerial vehicles, and a member of the Wolves special unit.
