On 8 May 2026, a military ceremony was held at the “Boro Menkov” barracks in Kumanovo to mark the Day of the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Company (CBRN), part of the Operations Command.
The ceremony was attended by the Commander of the Operations Command, Brigadier General Mirche Gjorgoski, the Commander of the 1st Infantry Brigade, Brigadier General Dejan Chiplakovski, commanders of subordinate units, and section chiefs from the Operations Command.
In her address, the unit commander, Lieutenant Maria Mihajlovska, stated:
“The unit is composed of highly trained personnel capable of providing CBRN protection at all times, both to Army units and to civilian structures in the country. It is the only unit whose name contains the term ‘Defense,’ a word worth sacrificing one’s life for in defense of one’s own people, and which connects us soldiers to our glorious past and makes us proud in the present.”
During the ceremony, congratulatory messages and incentive measures for members of the unit were read out. The 1st Section of the 2nd Platoon of the CBRN Company was declared the best section.
At the end of the ceremony, the Commander of the Operations Command, Brigadier General Mirche Gjorgoski, congratulated all members of the unit on their day and encouraged them to remain proud of their service in the CBRN branch, emphasizing its importance not only in modern warfare but also as a vital capability in countering terrorism and contemporary security threats, particularly chemical weapons threats.
