From 31 August to 11 September 2026, the “Joint Operations Planning Course” was conducted at the Army House in Skopje, organized by the Army and the Office of Defense Cooperation at the U.S. Embassy in Skopje, with instructors from the Defense Security Cooperation University (DSCU).
The aim of the course was to familiarize participants with the joint operations planning process and its application through the practical execution of the seven steps of the process: planning initiation, mission analysis, development of possible courses of action (COA), analysis and comparison of the possible courses of action, approval of the selected course of action, and development of a plan and order.
Through practical work in syndicates, the participants had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in operations-level planning, as well as to deepen their understanding of the importance of operations planning and its impact on the commander’s decision-making process and the successful accomplishment of the mission.
The course was attended by personnel from the organizational units of the General Staff of the Army and the Subordinate Command and Units.
The conduct of the course represents a significant contribution to enhancing the knowledge and skills of Army personnel in the field of operations planning, as well as to further strengthening professional capabilities and interoperability with partner armed forces.
