Traditionally, for the nineteenth time, a large number of Army commands and units celebrated February 18 – the International Military Sports Day under the motto “Friendship through sports”.
The official opening of this sports event, held at the Military Stadium in the City Park, was attended by the Minister of Defense, Slavjanka Petrovska, the Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Major General Azim Nuredin, the Director of the General Staff, Major General Zoran Mileski, the State Secretary in the Ministry of Defense, Vladimir Anchev, the director of the Faculty of Physical Education and representatives from the General Staff and the Ministry of Defense.
Before the competitions began, Minister Petrovska emphasized that the members of the Army are the guardians of the citizens’ safety, with their strong will, motive, but also with their top physical fitness. Investment in each one of them is the highest stake for our country.
At the opening ceremony Captain Zhan Tosev was awarded for his highly achieved results, the best athlete from the Army for 2022, by the Deputy Chief of the General Staff, General Nuredin.
After the end of the competitions in several disciplines: football, basketball, athletics and table tennis, in individual and team competition, the winners will be given awards.
The International Military Sports Council was established on February 18, 1948, and this year marks the 75th Anniversary. Our Army has been a full member since 2005. The participation in the International Military Sports Council programs, beside the remarkable results it achieves, additionally contributes to the development of inter-army cooperation, friendship and peace in the region and worldwide.
