The celebration of 18February – the Day of International Military Sports began with a line-up of the teams from the commands and units of the Army, at the Military Stadium in the City Park in Skopje. The members of the Army, under the motto “Friendship through sports”, observe this day for the twentieth time and compete in running, futsal, basketball, chess and table tennis.
At the opening ceremony, the Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Major General Azim Nuredin, emphasized that sport is an important segment of the Army, but also an important tool for developing friendship, camaraderie and bringing people of different nations closer together, sent a message that sport spirit should prevail during the competitions and wished that the best win.
At today’s ceremony, Sergeant Viktor Efremov was presented with a cup for the best athlete for 2023. He won the first place in the multidisciplinary competition for “Best Warrior” organized by the National Guard of Tennessee, in the United States of America.
There are top athletes within the Army, who achieve significant results in sports both on the domestic and international stage.
The International Military Sport Council is an organization established on 18 February, 1948, and the Army has been a full member since 2005. In addition to the remarkable results it achieves, further contributes to the development of inter-army cooperation, friendship and peace in the region and in the world through the programs of the International Council for Military Sports.
