Today, a send-off ceremony for the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia contingent to the exercise “Saber Junction 19” was held at the “Jane Sandanski” Barracks in Shtip.
The exercise “Saber Junction 19” will be held in the FR of Germany and is organized by the United States Army Europe (USAREUR). The exercise is one of the biggest exercises this year to be held in Europe and will feature participants from more than 20 partner countries. The Army of the Republic of North Macedonia will play a significant role in this exercise, with one infantry company from the Joint Operations Command and one platoon from the Special Operations Regiment.
Minister of Defence Radmila Shekerinska, Deputy Chief of Army General Staff, Major General Azim Nuredin and US Deputy Chief of Mission, Jennifer Littlejohn addressed the audience at the ceremony. The ceremony was attended by representatives from the US Office of Defence Cooperation.
The Minister of Defence Radmila Shekerinska-Jankovska, the acting US Deputy Chief of Mission, Jennifer Littlejohn and the Army Deputy Chief of Staff, Azim Nuredin, attended the solemn sent-off ceremony for the Army members who will participate in this exercise in Germany.
General Nuredin emphasized that our country will participate in this exercise with 140 Army members, one infantry company from the First Mechanized Infantry Brigade and one Ranger platoon from the Special Operations Regiment.
Each of these units will have a significant share in the exercise. “Distinguished participants, “Saber Junction 19” provides an opportunity for further development of the acquired skills and experiences, as well as development of interoperability with member countries participating in the exercise, in accordance with NATO standards”, said General Nuredin.
US Deputy Chief of Mission, Jennifer Littlejohn thanked our Army for the two-decade commitment in missions.
“Saber Junction 19” is one of the most dynamic exercises organized by the United States European Command, which brings together more than 5,000 partners from more than 20 countries to train and learn from each other. The environment will be rigorous, and the mission will be intense, but I have no doubt that you are up to the challenge, said Littlejohn.
At today’s ceremony in the “Jane Sandanski“ barracks in Stip, the Minister of Defence, Radmila Shekerinska stated that 140 members of the Army will take part in this exercise from 10th to 30th September, and they will as always prove their readiness to participate in NATO missions.
