The Chief of the General Staff of the Army, Major General Sashko Lafchiski, participated at the NATO Southern Commanders’ Coordination Conference, held on 19 and 20 November at the NATO Joint Force Command in Naples, Italy.
At this year’s Coordination Conference, which was opened by the Commander of the Allied Joint Force Command, General Christopher Cavoli, several topics of strategic importance for the Alliance were discussed, as well as NATO’s regional plans, and the activities under the jurisdiction of the NATO Joint Force Command in Naples.
General Lafchiski, as part of the agenda, shared our contribution and engagement, primarily in operations, exercises and initiatives of mutual interest to the Allied and partner countries, which are part of the NATO’s Southern Flank.
At the Conference, the results of the NATO Summit in Washington were reviewed, including the transformation of command structures, addressing various forms of security challenges, among which were terrorist threats within the area of responsibility of NATO’s Joint Forces Command, as well as opportunities to enhance regional cooperation between allies and partner countries to strengthen the security situation.
General Lafchiski’s participation at the Conference is particularly important, above all, to strengthen our role and contribution to the NATO Joint Force Commands activities, as joint efforts to preserve peace and stability in the region.
