The Army Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurchinovski, who is in an official visit to the Armed Forces (AF) of the Republic of Turkiye, had meetings in Ankara with his host, the Chief of the General Staff of the Republic of Turkiye Armed Forces, General Metin Gurak and the Defense Minister Yasar Guler.
At the meetings, General Gjurchinovski expressed his gratitude for the support, a helicopter and two air tractors, which the Republic of Turkiye sent in our country to deal with the fires.
It was emphasized that the high level of cooperation is best reflected in this form of mutual assistance, when the need arises, as was the case with our assistance in dealing with the immediate aftermath of the disastrous earthquake in the Republic of Turkiye two years ago. In addition, forms of possible support and assistance in this and similar situations of natural disasters were discussed.
At the meeting with his host, General Gurak, General Gjurchinovski also discussed the possibilities for further expansion and intensification of the bilateral military cooperation, which consists of conducting joint training and exercises, joint participation in missions and using the capacities of the two armies.
General Gjurchinovski emphasized our joint participation in peace support operations, primarily in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where our contingent is under the auspices of the Turkish contingent, as it was the case in Afghanistan.
As part of the visit, the Army delegation, led by General Gjurchinovski, also visited the Command of the Turkish Special Forces and other units, where opportunities for cooperation in training and exercises were considered.
The Republic of Turkiye, as our strategic partner, is an important supporter and contributor to achieving NATO standards in several fields, such as: training, military education, joint participation in peace support operations, equipment, etc.
