Military delegation of ARM led by the Chief of GS of ARM Lieutenant General Metodija Velichkovski had a two-day official visit to the Macedonian peacekeepers and the command of the “Resolute Support” mission in Kabul, Afghanistan.
During the visit, General Velichkovski had an official meeting with the commander of the “Resolute Support” mission General John Nicholson, and meetings with the officers in charge of the training, advisory and assistance command in the capital, as well.
During the meeting in Kabul proper regard was paid to the participation of the Macedonian contingent in the mission, and General Nicholson emphasized the high level of professionalism of the servicemen of ARM, the demonstrated knowledge and skills when fulfilling the assigned tasks at the given posts. Among other things, General Velichkovski was informed about the current security situation in Afghanistan, ongoing and future planned activities of the “Resolute Support” mission.
During the stay in Afghanistan on 2nd August, the Macedonian military delegation together with all the servicemen of ARM from this rotation that participate in the “Resolute Support” mission celebrated the national holiday Ilinden which presents a special support to our peacekeepers for their contribution to creating an image of the Republic of Macedonia as an active contributor to peace and security, globally.
This is the first visit from the highest command of ARM to the Macedonian peacekeepers and “Resolute Support” mission led by the NATO command from its start in January, 2015.
The Macedonian contingent comprises of 39 servicemen of ARM that perform duties within the TAACC command, security forces of the chief command of the “Resolute Support” mission in Kabul and the Training, Advisory and Assistance Command-North.
In the past 14 years, ARM is part of the biggest military coalition with over 2800 of its servicemen who in extremely complex conditions demonstrate the contribution of the Republic of Macedonia in building the peace, democracy and security of Afghanistan.
We acquired the legitimacy, recognition and confirmation of a confident, reliable trained and above all equal member of NATO by demonstrating great dedication to the execution of the assigned tasks. Lessons learned from the participation in the ISAF mission have a wide application in the current peacekeeping mission “Resolute Support”.
The Army of the Republic of Macedonia is proud of its servicemen, who in this period are not only guardians of the sovereignty of Republic of Macedonia but also its ambassadors of peace.
