Today, in the barracks “Boro Menkov” in Kumanovo, the Joint Operations Command (JOC) celebrated the Day of the Unit. The celebration is part of the activities marking the 25th anniversary of ARM.
The service personnel of the biggest operations command of ARM in a dignifying manner marked this year’s anniversary with appropriate activities. They also honored the traditions of the unit by marking a significant event of Macedonian history; the formation of the headquarters in village Kresna, which organized the Kresna Uprising in 1878.
The President of the Republic of Macedonia and the Supreme Commander of ARM, Gjorge Ivanov in his speech highlighted the historic importance and correlation between the establishment of Kresna headquarters and the contribution of JOC to the development of ARM during these 25 years of its existence.
He also commended all current and former members of the unit for their dedication, professionalism and determination while carrying out their tasks and activities, as well as for their overall contribution to this command, which has become one of the main pillars of the General Staff of ARM.
The JOC Commander Brigadier General Zoran Mileski emphasized that JOC has achieved yet another success conducting the biggest ARM exercise this year. He urged the members of the unit to look upon the Day of the unit as an inspiration and a drive to achieve their goals through planning and conduct of complex operations.
As a part of the event, some of the JOC members received certificates of appreciation and awards for their accomplishments by the Chief of the General Staff of ARM, Lieutenant General Metodija Velichkovski and the JOC Commander and others were promoted to a higher rank.
Beside the Supreme Commander and the Chief of ARM GS, the celebration was also attended by the MoD State Secretary Dragan Nikolikj, ARM generals, and representatives from the Presidential Cabinet, MoD and GS of ARM, commanders of other ARM units, former JOC commanders, military attachés accredited to the Republic of Macedonia and guests from the local government and organizations.
As part of the celebration, the JOC service personnel demonstrated their humanity by organizing a blood donation and donating school supplies for the students of the Special Needs School “Brakja Miladinovci” in Kumanovo.
