The eleven members of the Army who died tragically in a helicopter accident twelve years ago, were given respect by laying fresh flowers at the memorial in Blace near Katlanovo.
One minute silence and flower wreaths as a sign of respect was shown by the family members and also by delegations from the General Staff, led by the Deputy of the Chief of Staff, Major General Azim Nuredin, from the Ministry of Defence, led by the Deputy Minister of Defence Bekim Maksuti, a delegation from the Local Government of the Municipality of Petrovec led by the Mayor Borche Mitevski, the Operations Command, the Air Brigade and the First Infantry Brigade.
The anniversary of the accident was marked by the Air Brigade and the families of the killed in front of the memorial at the “Strasho Pindzur” barracks in Petrovec and the Butmir camp in Saraevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina where our peace keeping troops were part of the “ALTEA” mission.
The army helicopter Mi-17, returning from the “ALTEA” peacekeeping mission crashed on January 12, 2008 in Blace near Katlanovo where Lieutenant Colonel Toni Spasovski, Major Goran Ristovski, Captain Brane Spasovski, Captain Igor Gjorevski, Sergeant Major Slavcho Vasilev, Sergeant Major Toni Davitkovski, Staff Sergeant Janko Shirikj, Staff Sergeant Miki Ivanovski, Staff Sergeant Aleksandar Taskovski, Staff Sergeant Aleksandar Vasikj and Corporal Zlatko Veljanovski, were killed.
