Today, 1st of March 2013 (Friday), beginning at 11:00 hours, a ceremony was held on the occasion of the Day of the Special Operations Regiment (SOR) in the Ilinden barracks in Skopje.
On the ceremony the Chief of GS of the ARM, Major General Gorancho Koteski, gave a speech, who congratulated the holiday to the SOR, where he stressed that “The ARM members are particularly proud of you, because you have proven your courage and humanity, willingness to perform the most complex tasks and that you were always here to help the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia. I believe that the citizens of our country share this feeling and opinion. They know how to appreciate your successes, for which you will forever remain masters of your profession and the pride of our Army.” At the same time General Koteski spoke of the fact that we live in a democratic society that is full of risks and challenges. That is why, in relation with all current developments in the country, region and beyond, the Chief of GS of the ARM requested of the members of the Special Operations Regiment – to always primarily be guided by the interests of our country and the interests of our citizens and the Army of the Republic of Macedonia.
In his address he sent a message to all members of the ARM that the Army is one of the foundations of the state, but also a basic pillar of its defence and security. No one should doubt the strength of this foundation, but should not undermine it as well, because it is underpinned not just with the training and loyalty, but with the professionalism and major trust that the ARM enjoys in the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia.
On the ceremony stimulant measures were awarded to members of the Special Operations Regiment as well as trophies to the winners in the sport competitions that were organized on the occasion of the Day of the Unit.
